Decadent Vietnamese Coffee Flan Recipe
This delightful flan is smooth and creamy, a perfect dessert! It's topped with rich Vietnamese coffee as well as crushed ice. You'll want to try this for yourself!
-3 whole eggs
-3 egg yolks
-1 tsp vanilla
-1 cup sugar
-2 1/2 cups milk
-2 tbsp water
-6-8 serving dishes
Combine a 1/2 cup of sugar with 2 tbsp water. Heat and whisk it on a stove top until it slightly bubbles. Stop when it turns a light brown caramel color. Pour the caramel into the serving dishes. Set aside to cool.
In a bowl, beat 1/2 cup of sugar, 3 whole eggs, 3 egg yolks, and 1 tsp vanilla. Set aside.
In a separate pan, heat 2 1/2 cups milk on a stove top until it slightly steams. Pour the warm milk slowly into the eggs/sugar mixture, whisking it in at the same time.
Strain the mixture into a pouring container to sift out lumps. Pour the mixture equally into the serving dishes.
Place these serving dishes all into a pan with high sides. Pour boiling water into the pan up to 2/3 of the serving dish's height.
Place in the oven at 320'F for 1 hour. When done, run a knife around the edges of the serving dishes and flip onto a plate.
Top with crushed ice and Vietnamese coffee. Our signature Vietnamese coffee blend would be perfect for this!
